No more sickies!!

Thought I'd start with a cute picture of Eli with his "nap" hair (hehe). Not many pictures this week due to Eli being sick for most of it. His rash was gone by Friday evening but he had a poor appetite up until today! Poor guy just eats like a bird when he doesn't feel 100% and relies a lot on nursing....so glad we still are so I feel he is getting something! Anyway, just another dose of our weekly "Eli Report" followed by some fun at the pool pictures!!

1) Eli is becoming much better at letting us know when he is hungry & thirsty. We offer him food often throughout the day and he has never had issue telling us he wasn't hungry, but until recently, never really told us when he was hungry. Sometimes he'll tell us what food he is wanting (usually pudding, hummus, pretzels, or some kind of fruit) but other times he'll just say "Hungy? Food? Eat?" For a drink he'll either say "Dink? Cup? Water? Juice?"
2) Eli is really using more & more short sentences and is able to answer questions we ask him. There's no question he understands everything we are saying to him!
3) Eli continues to enjoy identifying opposites: big/little, tall/short, etc.
4) Eli's new favorite book is "Go Dog Go!" by P.E. Eastman. This book is great because it is written to help encourage children to read. The first page says "Dog" with a picture of a dog. Page 2 says "Big dog, little dog" and so on. Eli can read the first few pages now and insists on reading it a couple of times a day.
5) Eli has started to do a funny new laugh that goes something like "Heh, eh, eh, eh, eh"
6) Since his appetite was low this week, we had to be creative to get any amount of food in him. "Airplane eating" is now his new favorite techniques....vroommmmmmm!
7) Eli has never cared what clothes we put him in...I guess that is more for girls as I've heard other toddlers his age who INSIST on picking out their own clothes. I decided we should get him more involved in this process so we started to have him choose between 2 pair of shorts and 2 shirts.
8) Speaking of giving choices, we've always asked him what foods he wanted to eat (not that he always answered us), what games & toys to play with, what shows to watch, etc., but I am making a concerted effort to do this more to help him feel more involved and in control of his day. Should be fun!!

This morning we went to Grandma & Grandpa Clarkson's to swim and have brunch. It was great because with our hot weather lately, it's too hot to be outside after noon!! Here are some pics:

Eli loves this tricycle. We plan to get him something similar sometime soon....maybe his birthday??:

Oh, and one random picture I took today after we got home. Eli really likes to wear daddy's hats. He put it on this way by himself and walked around kicking the ball for quite awhile:

This week we plan to go to a fun children's center and attend our park picnics on Friday that we started up again with our playdate friends. Now if only weather would cool down just a little (90's, 90's & more 90's!). Have a great week everyone!

Yay, I am glad Eli is Better! It's always stressful when the little guys are sick. Brayden sometimes wants to wear certain things but the thing he loves most are his red rain boots.
