This weekend, we attended 2 fun activities: Touch-A-Truck & a Royals baseball game! I'll let most of these pictures speak for themselves, but Touch-A-Truck will for sure be a yearly favorite for our family. We took Eli last year and he really loved it. This year he is walking (& running & jumping :) so he had a grand ol' time! Enjoy!
We attended the last home game series of the season against the Twins. We took Eli last year, but again, he is mobile this year so we spent about 20 minutes total in our seats. The stadium was remodeled so we did a lot of exploring. They built a fun kid area so that was perfect to explore. Royals lost, but when we arrived a little late, the Royals scored TWO home runs which resulted in fireworks. As you can imagine, Eli was in heaven!!
I woke up to these cute words today uttered by Eli. Yes, Eli, I am 31 years OLDER than you (do the math) are! Cute morning followed with Starbucks, cards, play at the park, and playtime at the mall including a ride on the carousel. Wouldn't want to spend my birthday with any one else but my little man (and big man, but he has to work)! Thank you sweet boy (s)!
While looking through this weeks' pictures, I noticed that Eli seemed to do a lot of imaginative play. When I have researched ideas of things to do with a 2 year old, the topic of make believe play comes up a lot. It seems that around this age that the make believe play starts to really kick in. Of course this is fun as it is awesome to see what they come up with!
As seen below, Eli is in love with spiders and spider webs. He will notice a small, obscure web anywhere and this time of the year, he is constantly showing us spider webs. We have had a few large spiders build webs on our deck & porch and there is one that he can see directly out the back door. He is always asking to go see it and so Eric decided one day to MAKE Eli his own spider web:
Eli enjoys pushing the kitchen chairs around to make a train or bus, whichever he feels to call it that day:
We attended our first Parents As Teachers group meeting this week. The theme was "Teddy Bear Picnic". Cheryl & Callie also attended and Cheryl & I were talking about how they are finally at the age they can really do the craft activities and understand what is going on. We also discussed how their creativity/make believe play is really improving. Here are some pictures from the morning:
Eli sat down to listen to the story & was very attentive the whole time until about the last couple of pages when he looked around, didn't see me, and said "mommy!" and ran to be with me:
Eli loves to wear our shoes but because mine are more lightweight, he often wears mine. Too bad these shoes have killer heels so he had a hard time getting them on:
Eli is much better about taking off the stickers by himself and placing them on paper (or anywhere else he chooses):
I will be very surprised if Eli doesn't take up drumming some day. He's got some rhythm and loves the "sticks":
Eli had his first Subway kid meal this weekend. And of course, his favorite "out to eat" beverage is chocolate milk!:
Also this week, Eli has enjoyed much naked time. He now insists on running around naked before bath & some diaper changes. He will go potty on the floor, but when we talk about going to the potty chair to potty, he says "no!" and runs away. We've got a ways to go:
Today we decided to try a photo shoot with Eli & I am happy with the results! I used picnik to edit & think they turned out really great. If you are interested in any prints, let us know and we'll make a snapfish order soon! Enjoy!
