8 months old!!

Happy 8 months, Eli!!

Ahhhh....spring time. Just a couple pics of spring time flowers....

Thankfully, Eli is better now....it must have just been a 24 hour bug. I hate seeing him sick, as he really acts like he's in pain; so weak, tired and clingy. He slept most of the morning and afternoon on Friday and would wake up about every 15-30 minutes, cry and be sad, and go back to sleep (with help from mommy, of course). Glad he's better!

This week we went to a Parents As Teachers activity called "It's Raining It's Pouring". They had activities that could be done at home inside for those rainy days. Some of them were for bigger kids, but Eli could participate with help from mommy. These activities are great because they are free! We also attended breastfeeding group & Music with Mar.

Nothing really new to report as far as development. Eli continues to be strong on his feet and has done nothing even resembling crawling. I guess I should continue to enjoy the time he is not mobile as when he starts to show that first sign, we'll have baby proof as I KNOW I'll be chasing him around!! According to babycenter & Parents As Teachers, Eli should soon start to wave, pull to stand, & say first word. How exciting! I'm not rushing his growth by any means, but it's fun to try to imagine what his little voice will sound like!

He loves his Baby Einstein "My First Signs" DVD and mommy ordered the whole library on ebay for an excellent price. Every time I put it on, he smiles, laughs and usually starts clapping. I'm doing better about using sign language for things like milk, sleep, food, bath, diaper change, etc. I'm sure he'll surprise me one day and do a sign!

Enjoy this week's pics & videos!

Another Graceland vintage tee!

I enjoy clapping A LOT!!

I'm SO excited to be jumping!

What did you say mommy?

Play time with daddy

Eli is sick....

....so this post is just to inform everyone that I will post again for him turning 8 months later. He has a fever, has vomited some (thankfully it's been about 20 hours since he last vomited), and has a really red sore throat. The doc tested for strep throat but it came back negative. Just a lovely bug!! This all makes him very clingy to mommy & he has just been sleeping for 15-30 minutes, waking up crying for me, I love him or nurse him back to sleep, and he does it again. Poor baby. It's his 8 month birthday today, too!! No fair!

Teeth pictures!!

Daddy figured out how to take pics of my teeth....woohoo!!

Eli is.....

.....standing (while leaning against things), getting TWO teeth, drinking from a straw, & beating up Elmo!! I'll explain more about each one later :)

First, I practice standing everyday, along with mommy encouraging me to do SOME sort of crawling, rolling, SOMETHING to move myself across the room, but, I just would rather stay in one place for now. Here's video of mommy trying to encourage me, but it didn't work :(

Here's a picture of me standing at my Intellitable. This only lasts for a few seconds, but long enough for mommy to get a picture!

I now have TWO teeth coming in on the bottom, side by side. Taking a picture is quite difficult, so mommy will have to wait until they come in all the way. I do like to do this with my bottom lip....mommy thinks I like to feel them:

A couple days this week it was warm enough for me to try on my short outfits. Mommy says my chubby legs are so cute in them:

Me & daddy:

My girlfriend, Callie & her mommy, Cheryl:

Notice what my shirt says?? This is a vintage hoodie of her alma mater that mommy wore when mommy was a kid....too funny that mommy probably wore it when mommy was about 2 years old (the tag says 24 months) and I am not even 8 months!!

The last couple of weeks mommy has let me play with a sippy cup and a cup with a straw. I drank water out of my sippy cup a couple of times with mommy's help:

But I really like the cup with a straw and I surprised mommy by just started drinking out of it on my own! Maybe this will replace the bottle when mommy is gone since I don't like those fake nipples that bottles have....who is she trying to fool! I've only done it once, though, so mommy has to try several times to see if I actually like it or if it was just a one time deal (I like to keep her on her toes :):

While mommy was at a meeting, daddy gave me a "spa" bath....I was very relaxed:

I like to scream, scream, SCREAM! It doesn't matter where I am: store, home, etc. I like the attention it gives me:

Laughing at Mocha, although she doesn't seem to care much about me!!

This is a long video (6 minutes!!) but I think Elmo is strange & I just couldn't take it, so I beat him up:

Mommy pushed it too far with Elmo & I decided I needed to let her know:

Standing, girlfriend & tooth on the way????

Hello all! Well, not to fool anyone, Eli is not standing on his own yet, but he has always been good about holding his weight when you stand him up. He continues to get better and better with this and I can't help but wonder if he will skip crawling and go to walking! I credit this to his jumperoo as he has built his leg muscles up nicely from all the jumping! I've been told it's not best to skip crawling as they learn some important skills with crawling, but I can't make the boy if he doesn't want to!! Here's a pic of him standing up with Grandma Bidney's help:

Eli also has a girlfriend. Her name is Callie and she is 6 months old so he's "robbing the cradle" but mommy doesn't mind. She attends breastfeeding group and is one of the "veterens" like Eli. She is so cute and petite and is very intrigued by Eli, that is until he makes her cry. Eli hasn't quite learned the art of wooing a woman. Daddy will have to work with him on that. Visit Callie's blog to see a picture of her. Maybe some day we will show these cute pictures of them as babies on their wedding day! Oh wait, I forgot, Callie can't even date until she's 30 years old. Hmmm....not sure how that's gonna work ;) I'll have to remember to bring my camera to group to get a pic of them together.

In looking in Eli's mouth, I noticed an area on his bottom gums that looks like something may be trying to make it's way through. Having not seen a teething baby and not knowing how it feels (I read you feel the ridges of the tooth, but I'm still not sure if that is what I'm feeling, but then again, what else what it be??), I'm not certain. But, it's in the right location for his first tooth, so I think we may be seeing a tooth within the next couple of days. Here's a bad picture of what I'm talking about (you can see a little white area....barely, but it's there):

This week consisted of the usual: breastfeeding group, Music with Mar, running of errands, etc. Not many pictures/videos to share, but a few. Next week we have La Leche League meeting and breastfeeding group on the agenda. Also, FYI, we're trying REALLY hard to see if we can swing me working part time. A certain job that would pay well enough and is flexible with hours (you can work 16-36 hours) called me and will let me know soon if I am chosen for an interview. Someone who already works there is putting a good word for me, so I'm crossing my fingers and praying this works out. Then Grandma Bidney can watch Eli part time! I'll let everyone know if I get an interview and the results. If this works out, my dream of part-time work and spending the rest of the time with Eli (and future little ones....no I'm NOT pregnant ;) will come true!!

Just chillin'

Mommy, why do you take so many pictures of me?!?

Grandma's moving to KC!!

Grandma Bidney just finished the details of purchasing her condo here in Independence, only about 4 miles from our house and about 1 mile from her sister. It's only 5 years old, so everything is new and the inspection went wonderful with only a few minor things that can easily be fixed. We are excited she will be moving here and she'll be ready to move in mid May-woohoo!! Now Grandma will get to see Eli more often and maybe even be a part time care giver when mom returns to work. Here's the pics of her new place!

Mom will live in the lower level of this unit
