Happy 8 months Anna!

Lovely Anna turned 8 months today. It seems the last couple months I haven't had too much to report but this last month she has made a number of developmental advances. I will talk about each one as we go through the pictures, so as to not bore anyone....heehee.

1) Anna is really starting to show a love for books. Each time I get one to read to her she smiles and then takes the book, tosses it all around, opens pages, and continues to smile.

2) Anna is doing awesome with sitting these days. She only topples if she wants to...in which case I call her Topplina :)

3) She likes to be held up by hands and stand. She just laughs and smiles when she is standing. At this age, Eli was holding his weight and leaning against things!

4) Anna enjoys rocking and bouncing while sitting. She often lunges forward and gets to her belly. THEN, once on her belly, she usually starts to roll around the room. I have left her for a few minutes before and she was all the way across our living room...playing with Eli's race track.

5) When put into the crawling position, she will hold it for a few seconds and sometimes rock but only for a short time. There is definite interest, though!

6) Anna can now say "mamamama" and "dadadada". She isn't looking at us and saying it quite yet, but we reinforce to her who each one is!

7) Sadly, Anna had her first illness during this month. She was diagnosed with an ear infection last week and was put on an antibiotic. She hated it at first, but after a few days, she was okay with it. Tomorrow is her last day on it!

8) Anna weighed 19 lbs. 11 oz. at her ear infection appointment! Eli weighed 20 lbs. at 5 months! Yikes!!!

9) Anna is not too fond of pureed food, but is showing more & more interest in finger food. I break up Gerber puffs and she enjoys them. I will start to add more finger foods like banana and see how she does. I am more relaxed this time around since Eli showed zero interest in food until well after a year!! Breastmilk rocks!

10) Anna now has 4 teeth! It is too cute to see her full grin smiles :)

11) Anna is starting to voice her opinion to Eli when he is too rough or takes something from her. When she is able to crawl....watch out!!

12) Anna continues to be like her mama in another way. She can be so vocal when at home where she is comfortable, but once we are in a crowded or loud place, she turns quiet and just observes.

Happy 8 months, baby girl!

Right after this picture was taken Eli shot out of the chair and she fell over and cried....oh boy....

Next week Anna will get her free eye exam through the state. Eli had his at this age and did just fine. I'm sure she will, too! We also have started to "brush" her teeth....rubbing is more like it :)

So we'll see if this month holds some crawling for our little lady. I also wonder how she'll continue to do with food and her babbling. Maybe some clapping? Too fun and I am so blessed to be home 20 out of 24 hours of the day with my kiddos!!! Soon to come, a post about almost 3 1/2 year old Eli!
