2008 in review/Resolution

Here we are in 2009 & I thought I would follow in the footsteps of some of my other blogger friends and do a review of the year. Partly for all our loyal readers out there but also to remind me of what a great year we had & to be thankful everyday for the life we lead. Enjoy!!

January: Eli turned 5 months at the end of January & during that month he learned to grab his feet, pull off his socks, blow raspberries, pet the cat for the first time, sat in his high chair for the first time (just for fun, he didn't try solids until 6 1/2 months), sitting with help, continued to be a big boy at 20 lbs., laughed A LOT, & continued to babble, babble, babble!!
February: Eli turned 1/2 a year on the 25th! Eli started bathing in the big tub, began to sit up well, had his 6 month pictures taken, moved to his convertible car seat, caught bronchilitis caused by RSV with an ear infection :(, "tried" solids (but didn't like very well)!
March: Eli turns 7 months and continues to fight off his bronchilitis. Eli was introduced to rice cereal & banana but didn't take to well to either. We celebrate Easter with family & Grandma Bidney begins to consider moving down to KC! Plays well with toys & moves them from hand to hand. Eli had his first eye appointment and passed with flying colors!
April: An active 8 month old Eli is! We attended Music with Mar for the first time (wish we could fit it in our schedule still!), lunges forward, but still not interested in rolling over quite yet (he's a big boy, ya know!). Eli's 1st & 2nd teeth pop through and Eli starts "dating" Callie from BF group :). Eli starts to stand leaning against the couch wtih help and drinking water from a straw cup. Eli got a stomach flu bug which he did not enjoy!
May: Eli learned the pincer grasp at 9 months & thinks bouncing balls are hilarious! He discovered his tongue & loved using the walker we borrowed from Mallory. We celebrated a wonderful Mother's Day (my 1st!) & our 4th wedding anniversary. Eli showed signs of possible crawling by lunging forward & falling on his belly....but then what?? We attended Mallory's 2nd birthday party & Eli started to use consonants d & b. Grandma Bidney moved to KC!
June: Eli got some "big boy" toys like a piano & sorting set & a new pair of summer shoes! Food is still not his friend at 10 months, and really won't be for awhile longer. Eli does well with hitting toys together, passing toys, responding to name, & continues to babble & laugh all the time! He hit 25 lbs., which he stays around this weight until he is about 15 months! Mommy gets a new part-time job that starts in August & Grandpa Bidney gets married in Iowa. Eli swings for the first time & loves to sit outside on a blanket. We also celebrate Father's Day-Eli's daddy is the best!

WHERE IS JULY-DECEMBER YOU ASK????
WELL-MY COMPUTER FROZE & WOULDN'T SAVE THE LAST 6 MONTHS I JUST SPENT 2 HOURS DOING!! I GUESS THAT'S WHAT I GET FOR DOING THIS AND NOT JUST LINKING TO EACH MONTH.....SO YOU WILL HAVE TO DO JUST THAT, LINK TO EACH MONTH ON THE SIDE OF OUR BLOG.

On to resolutions (not that I'm bitter about what just happened or anything :). I am simply typing that I really don't have any "new" resolutions. It seems that I am constantly reminding myself (to a fault, many times) of things I need to improve on, do more of, do less of, etc. Since I do this to myself all year, why do it in a big long list at the beginning of each year? Now, this doesn't mean I won't continue to remind myself of ways I can always better myself, but my resolution maybe should be to NOT do this so often & to do it in a more gentle fashion. I think my husband would appreciate this too, since I do the same with him. So, my resolution is while it is healthy to resolve each day to improve in areas I need improvement, it is also healthIER to be happy with what you have & the life you live. As many wise people have said: Happiness is wanting what you already have. That's my 2009 resolution.

oh bummer! I hate when that happens! You kept such good records of Eli's development and it's so fun to read! Aidan just hit 25lbs at 10 months, too. I hope he stays that way for a while! Happy New Year!
