My mom has been here since Eli was born and she returns home to Iowa in about an hour. She has been a great help with meals, cleaning, getting up with me in the night, and spending time with Eli when mommy needs to sleep. We will miss her greatly and Eli has enjoyed his time with his grandma. She has surgery on her foot in about a week so she has to return home to prepare for the surgery. I will have to be more coordinated with eating, taking showers, going to the bathroom and any outings with just myself during the day....ahhhh!! Thanks mom/grandma & we love you!!! You are welcome to come down anytime after you feel healed enough to do so!
In my last post I wrote about letting Eli sleep as long as he wants and going by his schedule. We've done this and I must say he hasn't slept as long as he did those 2 nights. So, we still get up at least 1-2 times in the night and it's not really consistent. For example, last night he got done feeding at around 7:30pm and slept until midnight when he fed again. The feeding ended at around 12:45am and he was wide awake (which is a problem, too). I swaddled him and held him in a dark room with his paci in his mouth. He just fought and fought sleep, but pretty much stayed quiet. He would have little yelps now and then but generally was just calm. He finally feel asleep about 30-45 minutes later and I laid him in his vibrate chair (where he sleeps most of the time, or his car seat). It worked, so that's what matters ;)

This will be one he can use in his montage when he gets married to say what a mean daddy he has ;) Eric thought this was hilarious!
Our first walk....he loves being outside! I hope to walk with him a few times a week...it will be good for both of us!

Hey Amy,
If you're only getting up 1-2 times a night, that's great! I try to go to bed between 8-9pm so I have a little sleep before her next feeding. We get up at least 3 times. One suggestion I have if he's fighting sleep and you're tired is to go to your living room or where you can watch t.v. I keep the t.v. on really quiet in our living room all night and go there to feed her. It helps me so much to stay awake and not want to rush her to eat. Then if she doesn't fall asleep right away, I have some entertainment to keep me alert. Before I started doing this, I would get so tired sitting in her room and would start to fall asleep before she did.
Hang in there Amy. It gets better with time I promise. I hope that breastfeeding group is helping...I know it helped me w/ Mallory. Let me know if you need ANYTHING.
love ya
Emily
Hehe, I love that shirt on his head too!!
And imo Eli looks annoyed as hell when you put those stuffed animals in his face :) He's saying "Mom, stop, I'm just chillin!" :)
Can't wait to see you all again!
You all look great! What a big boy Mr. Eli is becoming! I agree with Em, hang in there. Lucy and I didn't truly figure each other out for a month. Being a milk machine is hard work!
