Zoo, ouchies, silly Eli, and more!

1st Trip to the Zoo

Tuesday morning we headed out to the zoo to meet up with a few bf support group kids and mommies. We weren't sure what the weather would do, but it ended up being a great morning as it was cool and stayed dry. This was Eli's first zoo experience, so it was good to have a short visit to just see how he would handle it all. He did great and I'm sure we'll go back several times this summer!

Our first stop was to see the Sea Lion show. Eli seemed to be interested in their tricks and noises for awhile and then wanted out of the stroller to play in the puddles:

Next we went to a bird sanctuary. These cute little guys were trying to keep a little egg warm:

Eli loved seeing the animals close up. Here's a deer coming to say "hi":

A woolly llama:

Feeding the coi fish:

"Ooooo, eeeee, aaaaa!" Monkeys!:

The kangaroos were fun as they were just out in the open without any fences:

See the kangaroo back there?:

This guy looked like he had been around awhile....very wise:

The petting farm was definitely the biggest hit. Eli loved the sheep and kept saying "sheep!" The sheep, on the other hand, really only paid attention to you if you had food....

....or food in your stroller they could rummage through:

Eli said "oooo, tall!" and I reminded him it was a windmill. He then took off running to it:

Eli & Jenna playing with the elephant sculpture. We didn't see the REAL elephants this visit but we plan to next time! Jenna & Eli also enjoyed splashing in the puddle behind the elephant which made me glad I had a dry outfit in the car!:

"Ouchies" galore

On Wednesday, we attended the first "Toddler Town on Tour" for the season. We had a good time (I chased him around the equipment as he made a couple attempts of jumping down to the ground....or falling I should say!) and hope to attend most of these this summer. Eli did just fine, as far as no ouchies, until he was eating a snack and got down off of my lap, with snack cup in hand, tripped, fell and didn't catch himself due to holding the cup. He cried big time and had later developed a nice bruise across his nose and forehead:

The next day, he fell and hit the side of his head by the hairline/temple and it swelled a little. It concerned me just because of the location and the swelling, so I called the triage nurse and she said to bring him to get it checked out. He checked out fine and the bump is pretty well gone. I told Eli earlier he could only have one ouchie a day....I changed it now to one ouchie a week! :)

Silly Eli

At a garage sale, we picked up a keyboard for Eli. If you remember, back in January he loved Grandma and Grandpa Clarkson's keyboard:

He is having similar fun with his own keyboard:

Silly Eli has never liked brushing his teeth....until this week. He somehow figured out that his toothbrushes (all the ones we have tried) are in one of the bathroom drawers and daddy and mommy's are in the other. So, he steps on the stool, whines to have the water turned on, and pulls out ALL the toothbrushes and uses each one after running it under the water. If we would let him, I think he would be in there for hours! I'm so excited he is actually brushing his teeth willingly (I still do it for him at night) that I let him do this a couple times a day:

Silly Eli had fun eating some yogurt by himself:

This firetruck is actually NOT a toy but was what a plant came in that Eric's work sent when Eli was born. Silly Eli loves to play with it:

Does this picture look familiar? Eli remembered he could where this bucket and still see while walking around the house:

Silly Eli always finds great purpose in his diaper box:

5th Anniversary Outing

For our anniversary outing, we kept it simple and went to see "Angles & Demons" and then ate dinner at O'Charley's. Good flick, good food, good company! We had fun discussing a few memories of our wedding and then our future. Love ya lots, sweetie!:

Morning at the Park

This morning we went to the park early before the heat of the day kicked in (it got into the high 80's today). As usual, Eli didn't do much on the actual equipment and instead enjoyed exploring the park surroundings:

Words/Phrases:

Eli has started to use more "phrases" this week in addition to some new words. He also enjoys speaking his own unique language and will become very emphatic while doing so. Check out Eli's new words/phrases on the side bar!

Hope everyone has a great 1st week of June, we hope to!

He is silly :) We'll have to take him to the DM zoo too so we can all see his reaction to the animals. I think he's got the whole "look left, look right" dance move figured out!

Well, I really enjoyed Eli's company this weekend, he hoped up on my lap and pointed out and named several things in the back yard and I was very impressed. We should plan a trip Deana Rose Children's farmstead and he can teach Gael the names of the animals and bottle feed the baby goats!

I am a little jelous that Eli sat in his stroller for a little bit while at the Zoo. Brayden loves the Zoo also but he loves to call all the animals cows:-0 His bump looks like it hurt. Poor guy. I am glad it was nothing serious though.
