Had my doc appointment today with no news to report. They left it up to me about being checked and said that even if I am more dilated, it doesn't mean anything until labor actually begins. He said it just gives a "starting point" for when labor actually begins. So, I decided not to get checked today. I will next week (as long as he doesn't arrive before then!). His heartbeat was 143 and my blood pressure and everything else is right on target. I got to meet another doc so now I've met 3 out of the 6 OBGYNs and 1 of the midwives.
I am tired of the heat. Just walking to and from a store or anywhere outside makes me tired and just HOT!! No outside activities for me that is for sure!!
Well, I'll post again on Saturday....39 weeks!!!
P.S. Oh, and I've now gained 42 lbs! Hurry up, Eli, so I don't gain anymore weight!!! ;)

Eli video-SORRY!!
Okay, you would not believe how much time this took!!! I've been trying the last week to get a decent video of him and I swear he knows as soon as I bring out the camera!! I would lay in bed watching TV with the camera on my tummy with my finger on the trigger ready to start recording. As soon as I put it away, he would start dancing up a storm!! This video is just a little taste of what he usually does, so I'm sorry he's not cooperating. I'm also sorry it's so blurry as I was too close to make it any better. PLUS, it shows the video twice-what the hell!!! I'm tired of trying to fix it so please enjoy, as I currently am not!! P.S. I am wearing clothes!

Oh boy! 38 weeks! It's crazy to think....anytime! We continue to do more and more to prepare our house for his arrival so we don't have to worry about some things after Eli is here. This is definitely my nesting, but ya know, I'm always nesting, pregnant or not!! Last night we bought his swing and some other items like burp cloths, hats, booties, and wipe warmer that we hadn't received yet. These were things we felt we should have before he arrives so we're not running out to get them later. But, I'm sure there will always be more!!
I am doing well. Certainly more tired and overall more uncomfortable. I still would categorize myself as feeling good, though. He's so low that sitting is hard (I really have to recline or keep my legs very un-lady like ;) and my pain in my inner thigh just flares up more often due to the weight. I can't pull up to a table anymore and have to eat holding my plate under my chin or I spill all over myself. Peeing is certainly more frequent. If he is moving around or I'm having a Braxton Hicks contraction, I have to pee instantaneously, usually about every 5 minutes until the pressure is off my pancake of a bladder!!
Eric is doing well, too. He is very excited and helpful of things I ask him to do. Since I'm out of commission for a lot of things, he picks up a lot of slack. Sometimes I get impatient with him if he doesn't do it my way or "quickly" enough for me, and he takes that, too!! Poor guy! He's a great hubby and I know he'll be a great daddy.

"How your baby's growing: Your baby has really plumped up. She weighs between 6 and 7 1/2 pounds (boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls), and she's nearly 20 inches long. She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb.
Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after she's born, but they won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)
How your life's changing: For many women, the next couple of weeks are a waiting game. Use this time to prepare your baby's nursery or to take care of necessary tasks you may not get around to for a while after your baby's born. Take naps, catch up on your reading, and spend uninterrupted time with your partner while you can.
Some swelling in your feet and ankles is normal during these last weeks, but call your practitioner without delay if you notice excessive or sudden swelling of your feet or ankles, more than slight swelling of your hands, any swelling in your face or puffiness around your eyes, or have a sudden weight gain. Also let her know immediately if have severe or persistent headaches; visual changes (such as double or blurred vision, seeing spots or flashing lights, light sensitivity, or a temporary loss of vision), intense upper abdominal pain or tenderness, or nausea and vomiting. These are symptoms of a serious condition called preeclampsia."
The waiting game comment is very true. I'm not anxious, just excited and actually a little sad of not being pregnant anymore. I like feeling him in my tummy and knowing he's safe inside me. But, I know as soon as I see his handsome little face, I'll get over that quick!! I do have more swelling in my feet and ankles. Another reason I can't do much around the house as they turn pretty big after standing for a period of time!

This week holds a couple of lunch/dinners with friends, so that should be fun. Wednesday is our last childbirth class and Thursday I go to the doc. We'll see if I have progressed any further than a fingertip!!

37 week doc apointment
Today I felt a little funny at work; feeling like I had to pee constantly and some digestion issues, so I went home around noon and then went to my already scheduled doc appointment at 4:40pm. I felt better at home and was able to nap, so that helped. Anyway, the doc said that my bladder is like pancake right now so it was probably just having to pee all the time and not amniotic fluid, as I wouldn't be able to control it if it were fluid. So, all is good! Here are my doc stats:
Eli's heartbeat: 130's, he wasn't moving much so he must have been napping. Last week it was in the 160's!! ;)
Mommy's blood pressure: Great!
Strep B results: NEGATIVE, WOOHOO!!
Dilation: still only a finger tip :(
Eli's head is positioned really far down in my pelvis and the doc said it certainly won't move from there, which is good. Doc said that when it's time for my water to break, it will break easily from all the pressure of Eli's head. While uncomfortable for me as I feel like he is sitting on my lap and my bladder is smashed, it's a good thing ;) Way to get yourself ready, Elijah!
I asked what he thought Eli would weigh. Doc said he thought around 7-7 1/2 pounds, so that's average. He doesn't think he's a big baby, thank God!! I asked about the policy on going over my due date. He said the practice tends to let the pregnancy go as long as it can as long as there are no complications. They are conservative when it comes to induction since it can increase the chances of a c-section. So, they'll just keep monitoring how he's doing each week and if he's still hangin' out after 40 weeks, they'll discuss induction. I'm glad they're not a practice that pushes having the baby born before 40 weeks. Overall it sounds like it will be up to me at that point as long as everything looks good. Just have to wait and see!!

Work Shower
